About Edwina Hay

My name is Edwina Hay and I am a New York City based web professional and freelance photographer. My résumé is available on this website and I can also be found on LinkedIn.

I have experience with HTML, XML, JATS DTD, GitHub, online publishing platforms such as WordPress, Silverchair, and Squarespace, Google Analytics and Google Workspace, as well as various social media platforms. Throughout my two decade career in the publishing field, I’ve used multiple content managing systems to preview and publish content online for journals. In my current role, I standardized ASME’s XML markup to ensure important data is captured accurately and have significantly reduced the amount of errors received in ASME’s data deposits to third parties such as Crossref, Ebsco, and Scopus. I also troubleshoot problems that arise with the publisher’s content, such as locating the reason why a deposit has failed, and reporting bugs to external teams for quick resolution. As the owner of ASME’s metadata, I am responsible for addressing complaints from authors who cannot find their content in third parties, or notify us of inaccuracies, and I always strive to resolve these concerns immediately and satisfactorily. Additionally, I provide ongoing technical and customer support to both internal and external users and have liaised with vendors and customers located in various time zones for numerous years.

I am also a freelance photographer who specializes in live music photography, portraits, and events. My photography work has appeared on various well-known sites (BrooklynVegan and Gothamist), publications (The Boston PhoenixSpin MagazineThe Village Voice) and other websites (Bandcamp DailyImpose MagazineHearing Things, Hell Gate, and Rolling Stone). I was also one of the Photo Editors of Impose Magazine from 2012-2015, and successfully revived their “Shot by the Band” photo series, which consistently increased their website traffic. I also have experience as a house photographer for Bowery Presents, BRIC Celebrate Brooklyn!, and Pioneer Works. I have captured musicians performing for nearly two decades and my portfolio is available at thisisnotaphotograph.com, and my photography can also be found on TumblrInstagram, and Flickr.
